The Truth:
It may feel like your brain has a mind of its own, especially when the day gets quiet and your thoughts suddenly get louder. The good news is that your brain can learn new patterns. Rather than forcing yourself to stop thinking or trying harder to sleep, you can learn ways to respond differently to racing thoughts, worry, and the pressure to fall asleep.
How the Program Helps:
In Train the Brain to Sleep, you’ll learn practical, evidence-informed tools to help you take back your nights. You’ll discover how to interrupt unhelpful thought patterns, calm an activated nervous system, and create a personalized roadmap for those nights when sleep feels difficult. Instead of lying awake wondering “What do I do now?” you’ll have specific strategies you know how to use. The goal is to help you move from feeling helpless and frustrated about sleep to feeling capable, prepared, and confident that you know how to work with your brain when sleep doesn’t come easily.
The Truth:
Sleep medication can be an important and appropriate part of treatment for some people, and any decisions about starting, changing, or stopping medication should be made with your physician or prescribing healthcare provider. At the same time, medication is only one possible part of supporting better sleep. Learning how thoughts, habits, stress, and the nervous system influence sleep can give you additional skills to work with your brain and body and build greater confidence around sleep.
How the Program Helps:
This program does not replace medical care or ask you to stop taking medication. Instead, it provides practical, brain-based strategies that can be used alongside the treatment recommendations of your healthcare providers. You’ll learn ways to reduce sleep-related worry, support nervous-system regulation, strengthen healthy sleep patterns, and respond differently when sleep doesn’t come easily. The goal is to help you develop sustainable skills and greater confidence in your ability to support restful sleep.
The Truth:
Stress is part of life, and while reducing it can certainly help, waiting for life to become stress-free before you can sleep isn’t realistic. What matters is not only the stress you experience, but how your brain and body respond to it, especially when everything becomes quiet at night. Better sleep doesn’t require eliminating stress. It involves learning how to help your brain shift out of problem-solving mode and allow your body to settle, even when life feels demanding.
How the Program Helps:
In Train the Brain to Sleep, you’ll learn practical strategies for managing stress in ways that support sleep. You’ll discover how to create greater brain-body synergy, release physical tension, redirect your attention, and disengage from stressful thought loops at bedtime. Instead of needing the perfect, stress-free day in order to sleep, you’ll build skills to help your mind and body shift gears, settle, and prepare for rest even after a difficult day.

My name is Marina Dyck, founder of Empowered Counselling in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada, and creator of the Train the Brain to Sleep program.
I’m a clinical counsellor and Level 5 Certified TEAM-CBT Master Therapist and Trainer, but at heart, I’m someone who is endlessly fascinated by the brain - how it learns, how it gets stuck in patterns, and, most importantly, how it can learn something new. That fascination finds its way into almost everything I do. I love taking what we’re learning from modern neuroscience and turning it into practical, everyday strategies people can actually use.
My interest in sleep became personal. For years, I experimented with different tools and techniques on myself and within my own family, trying to understand what actually helped when the body was tired but the brain simply wouldn’t switch off. Over time, I began to notice something important: better sleep wasn’t necessarily about trying harder to sleep. It was about understanding what was keeping the brain alert, and learning how to work with the brain and body differently. As I refined these strategies, I began incorporating them into my clinical work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, racing thoughts, and nighttime hyperarousal. I saw how helpful it could be when people had practical tools for settling the mind and body rather than lying awake fighting with sleep. Little by little, those tools developed into a more systematic approach. And that became Train the Brain to Sleep.
This program brings together years of clinical experience, personal experimentation, brain science, and practical strategies into one easy-to-follow, step-by-step approach. My goal is to help you understand what may be keeping you awake, what you can do differently, and how you can begin training your brain and body to better prepare for sleep. Because sometimes the answer isn’t to try harder to sleep. It’s to teach your brain something new.
And if nights have been difficult for a while, I hope this program gives you something you may be needing right now: new understanding, practical tools, and hope that your nights can look different.
I’d love to have you join me inside Train the Brain to Sleep.
Here’s to quieter minds, more restful nights, and brighter mornings ahead.
I hope to see you inside. đź’›
